Goodbye, Victor

Yesterday, Victor Sanchez, a young pitching prospect for the Seattle Mariners and the Leones of Caracas, died after being in a coma for 44 days. On Valentine’s Day, he was in a terrible car accident in Playa Medina, Sucre, and he never awoke from the terrible head injuries he sustained. He was 20 years old.

Never mind that Victor was a talented baseball player. To any of us he could have been a brother, a son, a nephew, a friend. Today, we don’t talk about baseball. Today, we send a prayer to the family of Victor Sanchez. Rest in peace, young man.
